My Background

Wynn Anderson

As a psychotherapist with experience working with individuals, children, teens, families and seniors, I employ a warm, compassionate, client-centered approach. Using a variety of evidence-based therapy techniques-including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, sleep assessment, positive psychology, CBT-I for insomnia  and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization)—I help you examine the aspects of your life that are not working for you, and assist you in developing your own solutions. My goal is to help you through present difficulties and empower you to navigate future challenges on your own.

I work with people navigating major life transitions, including tackling family and school issues, managing infertility or illness, experiencing sleep problems, or an ADHD diagnosis. I help my clients uncover core issues and build the skills to succeed in the long-term. When you’re ready to create change- recovering from depression or anxiety, or improving communication skills—I’m here to help.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I spent years working in the business sector. I understand how challenging professional transitions, such as a career change, job loss or moving to a new city, can be. For many, managing stress and maintaining work-life balance becomes a daily struggle.  I can help you navigate these business-related challenges.

Additionally, I have extensive experience with young people, from toddlers through young adults. As a counselor at Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC) and in the Palo Alto and Los Altos/Mountain View School Districts, I facilitated social and emotional learning groups and provided individual therapy to K-12 students. As a certified Positive Parenting instructor, I taught a variety of classes, including parenting and early literacy classes through FIRST 5 of California and the City of Mountain View.

I earned a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco and am licensed to practice in California. I have also completed a variety of specialty training including the advanced training  in Behavioral Sleep Medicine CBT-I at the University of Pennsylvania and TEAM therapy with Dr. David Burns. In addition to my private practice in Palo Alto, I am active in the community and serve as a Social and Emotional Learning Facilitator in the Palo Alto School District.
