Children & Adolescents
It can be really stressful to be a kid or teen these days. Growing up in the high-pressure Bay Area and navigating academic demands, social situations, or changes in the family such as divorce or loss of a loved one, can bring new challenges or effect your child or teen’s happiness and self-esteem. As they face new transitions, whether it be a new school or applying to college, they may experience feelings of stress, anxiety or unhappiness. It can be helpful for them to have a safe, neutral place to talk about their concerns. In my office they will find a supportive, listening ear, guidance, or help learning new skills and strategies to manage their stress.
Younger children also need help navigating their transitions and challenges. I can help them develop skills to become more resilient and to grow in a safe, nurturing, non-judgmental environment. We can come up with healthy ways to recognize and express their feelings.
As our children grow older, they are trying to define their own identities, and sometimes parents go through times when they feel they are losing a piece of the connection they shared with their children. Fortunately, there are steps you and your teen can take to understand why you are struggling and what you can do to find relief and foster a healthier connection.
I have been honored to work with children and teens as the school therapist at both the elementary and high school levels, and teaching classes in the Palo Alto School District on resilience.
If you are ready to find relief, healing and growth, or if you have questions about my therapy practice or approach, I invite you to contact me here or call me at (650) 421-3788 to schedule a phone consultation.
